From 27 to 29 August 2024, the RCE Europe Regional Meeting took place in Dinslaken, Germany, hosted by RCE Ruhr under the theme "Transformative Education: Nurturing Competencies for a Sustainable World." Co-organised by RCE Oldenburger Münsterland, RCE Basque Country-Navarre and RCE Scotland, the meeting highlighted strong collaboration across the European RCE network.
Held at Hof Emschermündung, a nature education centre, the event featured a diverse programme of workshops, presentations, and group discussions, promoting knowledge exchange and cooperation among RCEs and external stakeholders.
Key sessions included a workshop on the Sevengardens initiative, which explored natural dye creation and sustainability education, a session on SDG 16 focusing on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and updates on youth initiatives by the European Regional Youth Coordinators.
The meeting concluded with open space discussions focused on enhancing collaboration across the RCE network, exploring joint projects and potential partnerships with organisations such as UNESCO and the European Commission. The event underscored the commitment of European RCEs to advancing Education for Sustainable Development and addressing regional sustainability challenges.
